Are 19D's (cav scouts) in high demand in the army now? How dangerous is it? Do many scouts die? I'm interested?

I am thinking about going into the TX n'tl guard, and am trying to get as much info as i can about tx cav scouts, and cav scouts in general. any info would be much appreciated.
