Sleep aides for puppies?
I have a toy size 10 pound poodle. He was just diagnosed with a luxating patella. My vet prescribed some pain killers for him and wants me to keep him on bed rest for a whole week in his crate. My problem is he is a puppy with tons of energy. Even with pain causing him to limp he still loves to run and jump. I also have a 2nd toy size poodle of the same age and they get each other riled up. When I put him in his crate he cries and bites on the wire door. I have over the counter sleep aids. It's like tylenol p.m. without the tylenol. This is only a starting point for me to do research. But I want to see what the over allopinionn is for giving dogs something like this. I've heard of people giving dogs benedryl which is similar. I want to hear what people have to say, and trust me I love my dogs. So if people say it's ok to give him, doesn't mean I'm going to rush to my medicine cabinet and drop a pill in his mouth. I just want to him to be sleepy because I try to let him out as much as possible, but with the pain medicine, I'mafraidd he will hurt himself more because he doesn't feel where it hurts. He stopped limping, which I know doesn't mean he is all better.
