To what extent did President Eisenhower continue the containment policy of Harry Truman?

The death of Stalin and the development of the hydrogen bomb by both the US and Russia led to a less confrontational approach by Eisenhower, but the policy of containment remained in place until the collapse of the Soviet Union in the late 1980's.
