Isn't "praying to god" like telepathy?

So in that case, it would be impossible to communicate with "god" or a similar being because science has proved that telepathy is impossible, and that psychics/mind readers/telepathic people are lying, or the communicating is just all in their head and they really aren't capable of doing that. So tell me, how is praying different from telepathy??
