How many days rest should I get in between workouts?

I am gonna begin to workout in about a week or so, but im hearing from everybody not to workout everyday to give my muscles time to recoup. Now im only planning on working out my upper body (I don't really care about my legs) so basically my question is in about a week's time (from Sunday to Saturday) which days should I workout out?....lets say I start Sunday should I then workout every other day and leaving a day in between for rest, or If I would start on a Sunday should I workout every two days leaving a two day resting period........Now remember im only concerned with my upper body so please don't tell me ooo workout arms on 1 day then the next workout legs or tararara....im skipping the legs, im just concerned with upperbody.....I basically just wanna know how many days rest should i take between workout
