How do I make my vocals sound clear?

I rap and use a Samson CO1U microphone. I also use Sonar LE as an editing/recording program. Everytime I record, my vocals are not as clear as other people that use the same microphone. Is there something I should do in Sonar LE to make the vocals clearer or what??
